Eleni obtained in 2019 her PhD in Sociology and Methodology of Social Research from the University of Milan and University of Turin, with a 3-year scholarship by the Compagnia di San Paolo [as part of the Network for the Advancement of Social and Political Studies (NASP) program]. Title of doctoral thesis: 'Social relationships and social participation of women with disability'.

In 2011 obtained the MA in European Health Promotion from the University of Brighton, and in 2004 her first degree in Sociology from the University of the Aegean.

Eleni has teaching experience as a tutor, lecturer, and Course Coordinator.

Eleni has research experience since 2006 working in various EU/EC, nationally, or privately funded research projects in Italy, Greece, and the UK on topics related to the sociology of health, disability studies, primary health care, health services, health promotion, public health, healthy/active ageing, deinstitutionalisation, social inclusion of persons with disability, as a sociologist, researcher, research coordinator, Marie Curie Fellow [e.g. the Multidisciplinary Research Network on Health and Disability in Europe (MURINET) project, Collaborative Research on Ageing in Europe (COURAGE in Europe) project, NHS-evaluation project of the Stop Smoking Service by the eB4u Programme, Lumos NGO project in Greece, 'THALES - Building Health Care Workers Capacity in Health Promotion: development, implementation and evaluation of an innovative distance-learning intervention', and 'Promotion of Child Psychosocial Development and Prevention of Difficulties in the Childcare Context' project].
