Our BALM students from London campus visited Swansea campus on 9th June 2022. The UWTSD's new £350m development is in the city’s maritime area of the Wales Coastal Path, next to the marina with its barrage and sail bridges, pretty sailboats and attractive architecture, old and new. It was raining on the day for a while; however, it is safe to say that every one of the students had a day-trip experience.

We went by train from Paddington station to Swansea. We all sat together on the train and had a lot of fun with informal interaction, so straight away that was an awesome skill and experience to have, especially with it being so informal to teacher. Initially, the day was helped out with incredible sunshine making it feel almost like a holiday.

We were welcomed by some senior colleagues at UWTSD Swansea campus and they toured us to different buildings and facilities. Julie Thomas, Programme Manager of the CIPD programme, organised and ran a Wellbeing at Work Workshop which provided students a lot of extra skills and knowledge relating to line management, coaching and mentoring and leadership with emotional intelligence skills. During the workshop, SA1 campus provided some light refreshments and lunch as well. Students felt very proud to be associated with UWTSD, which has really inspired us to organise such events in the future.

Overall, it was a fantastic experience. Thanks to UWTSD senior management team for providing such an opportunity for the students, and special thanks to Matthew Peake, Joanne Biggs, Davina Evans, Shehla Khan and Brynach Heffernan who helped us organising and making the trip successful. It is not just memories with fun and enjoyable experiences, but vast amount of skills on developing emotional intelligence skills.
